What People Say

Jono Shaw is an Interaction Design practitioner, researcher and educator based in Sydney, Australia, whose works bring a multifaceted perspective to produce designs as exploratory as they are aesthetically and emotionally pleasing. His design practice encompasses interactive media art, human-centered experience design, speculative design, and affective interaction design, through which he breaks boundaries toward intriguing intersections between humanity and sensory environments.

Jono’s approach to design is characterized by challenging conventional thinking and self-imposed constraints, with the aspiration to designs that not just serve a function, but tell a story, stimulate reflections, break conservative prejudices, and look after minor intricacies of life. As a practice-based researcher, his interests center on the ways technology influences humanity, society and culture, and how social and cultural institutions adapt to these changes. His passion also extends to filmmaking, education, creative writing, minority rights, and multiculturalism.
